LONDON - Desmond Dekker, who brought the sound of Jamaican ska music to the world with songs such as 'Israelites,' has died, his manager said Friday. He was 64.
A few questions: Who is this? Why do I care? What the fuck is Jamaican ska?

I care because if I make it to 65 I will proclaim, "I've lived longer than that guy who brought the sound of Jamaican ska music to the world with songs such as 'Israelites' has so get off my lawn you damned kids!"
Since you asked.
That's a good enough reason I guess.
I never thought of it that way.
A. A Jamaican SKA dude, mon.
B. Because he brings ganga, dude.
C. A combination of Regge and jazz that has been marketed as "alternative" without the queerness that is usually associated with an "alternative" label. BTW, I don't mean to insinuate all "alternative" bands are gay; I will insuinuate, however, that 2/3rds of them are.
2/3rds at least.
