Can you believe it? I'm updating again!
I don't even know where I left off last time, but I do know that 'someone' checked in and gave me a "nudge". Hi there. :)
So... I am currently in Houston attending some schoolin'. Using my currently development environment, I am turning into a dinosaur. (For those who know anything about computer languages, think COBOL).
So I am learning some new technologies to send me into the 2000's.
The bad thing about this trip is that I was at our cabin in the mountains last Wednesday through Sunday, then had to shag-ass home Sunday morning to get to the airport on time to get on the plane to Houston that evening. Long day.
But trip to the mountains was good. Had some of my brothers up there to help me get firewood all cut up for the winter, played some cards, did some serious bullshitting, etc. Good time.
Well, time for a lunch break, then back to school.
HAVE FUN!
Update:
I thought of some things I should put in here, some thoughts on Houston.
Much different than where I live.
1- The people here are much friendlier. In person and in their cars. In person, they say "Hello". In their cars, they actually let you change lanes when you have your blinker on.
2- If you live here, XM or Sirius radio is a must. I scanned through oh, 20 stations of bible study and mexican music before I found one that was rock.
3- Humid. I am having a bad hair day.
4- They aren't all rednecks. In fact, I've seen very few Bubbas here.
5- Good food. I went to an excellent steak house Monday and a great Tex-Mex place last night. There's a seafood place on the way back to the hotel I may have to try tonight.
Okay, that's enough for now. Like I said, LATER!!!

Another Waste Of Taxpayer Dollars
Judge: White Conn. firefighters must be promotedGood. Reverse discrimination is still discrimination.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A federal judge has ordered Connecticut officials to promote 14 firefighters who won a reverse discrimination case in a landmark ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court.
[...]
This should never had to go to court in the first place. These people should have scored the tests and given the appropriate promotions without ever reading the names or knowing which belonged to whom in the first place.

BWAH!!!
Paid to do it, but fails to make his friend’s wife pregnant after 72 AttemptsNow that's funny. Even funnier to find out you're sterile and those ain't your kids.
A nice story, with surprising end:
In Stuttgart, Germany, a court judge must decide on a case of honorable intentions in a situation where a man hired his neighbor to get his wife pregnant.
It seems that Demetrius Soupolos, 29, and his former beauty queen wife, Traute, wanted a child badly, but Demetrius was told by a doctor that he was sterile.
So, Soupolos, after calming his wife’s protests, hired his neighbor, Frank Maus, 34, to impregnate her. Since Maus was already married and the father of two children, plus looked very much like Soupolos to boot, the plan seemed good.
Soupolos paid Maus $2,500 for the job and for three evenings a week for the next six months, Maus tried desperately, a total of 72 different times, to impregnate Traute.
When his own wife objected, he explained, "I don’t like this any more than you. I’m simply doing it for the money. Try and understand."
When Traute failed to get pregnant after six months, however, Soupolos was not understanding and insisted that Maus have a medical examination, which he did.
The doctor’s announcement that Maus was also sterile shocked everyone except his wife, who was forced to confess that Maus was not the real father of their two children.
Now Soupolos is suing Maus for breach of contract in an effort to get his money back, but Maus refuses to give it up because he said he did not guarantee conception, but only that he would give an honest effort.
But I have to say, I'm a better neighbor than that. I would have done it for free.

Burst My Bubble
So there is some good news in the midst of this housing kerfuffle going on around us. Sure, home prices were ridiculously high there for a while, builders couldn't keep up with demand, and pre-existing home sales were off the hizzy. Now, people can't unload their overpriced homes, can't make the payments, and are getting foreclosed on right and left. Plenty of homes on the market.
Which, since new construction has all but come to a standstill, manywetbacks illegal immigrants are going back to Mexico. So who says they weren't here for the money? Who says they were here just to make a better life for themselves? Hmmm.
Well, with all that, there is plenty to look forward to. For starters, we should now have shorter wait times in the emergency room. There won't be as many uninsured patients to wait on so taxes for indigent care should go down. Not to mention insurance rates. There won't be as many uninsured motorists on the road.
Schools could save money by eliminating "English as a second language" courses and reassign teachers to more useful classes, like Spanish. (B'yuk!).
More jobs will be available for residents, which can do nothing but help the economy.
Businesses won't have to worry about printing two languages on all their signage and labeling.
Wow! The list could go on forever! But I'll not get my hopes up just yet. There's still a long way to go to bring things back to normal.
REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!

Public Service Announcement
Due to the recent UFO hype, the Air Force recently declassified one of their official documents used in aircraft identification. Being a good citizen, I thought I would go ahead and post it here for your review:

Another Kid Story?
Rescuers free boy stuck in washerThis being idiot news, I was waiting for the part where they said something about how the mother first tried to rescue the kid by washing him in hot water to see if he shrunk.
AP - Tue Feb 5, 4:09 PM ET
DOVER, Ohio - Talk about an oversized load: A 4-year-old boy got stuck when he climbed into his family's top-loading washing machine, and firefighters had to use a metal cutter to slice into the appliance to get him out.
[...]
Oh well. Maybe next time.

Ask The Curmudgeon
DEAR CURMUDGEON: I live with and am engaged to a 53-year-old man -- 13 years older than I am. He is a very loving and giving man. I adore him and am looking forward to being married to him. He has strange little quirks that I am adjusting to, but there is one that I can't seem to get past: He can go up to two weeks without taking a bath or brushing his teeth, and he doesn't wear deodorant. His parents just didn't make him do those things. Sometimes the body odor is overwhelming. I have made comments like, ''Wow, you got hot and sweaty today. A shower is really going to feel good.'' He just laughs and says that's his new cologne. How do I get him to take care of his personal hygiene?Dear
--- ELVIRA
Okay, here's the deal: What the fuck is your problem? Are you that hard up that you have to stick with a fucking slob like that, or are you just stupid? Good gawd. You have a problem missy. Bigger than his.
Look, tell the slob to take a bath and brush his everlovin' teeth fer chrissakes. How could you possibly want to snuggle up to that slob, let alone kiss him on the filthy, food encrusted mouth, or for the love of all that's holy - suck that cheesy cock? And sex? Why would you ever let ole' cheese-dick stick that filthy dick in you? Beyond me, unless of course you enjoy licking dirty assholes too.
Fuck me running. That dude is just sick. Take him to the car wash or something.
