Time Flys / Flies
Summer brings them by the tons. But at least I don't live close to a feed lot.
Speaking of summer, I took this picture of my dash on the way home from work yesterday. Fucking heat is being obnoxious.
The good news is that I have On Star in my truck, and the On Star app on my phone. So while I was in the grocery store checkout line today, I used my telephone to start my truck so it would be all nice and cool by the time I got out to it. Cool truck = no melted ice cream! WOOHOO!
Anyway, how's everyone been?
I've still been slacking with the blog. I think of things, then forget them by the time I get here. I reckon they must not be that important.
Funny story though, Mrs Curmudgeon called me at work today to tell me the dogs had caught a rat in the back yard and had chewed its head off. She even sent me pictures. Well, it looks like a rat or maybe a gerbil, but one way or the other I'm guessing it was some kid's pet that escaped their pen and took a wrong turn. We just don't have rats around here.
By the way, "good doggie" to whoever caught it. And if you let me know which of you t was, there's an extra Milkbone in it for you. :)
Well, I guess that's it for today. TTYL!

GUILTY!!!
Yes, I had jury duty yesterday, hence the silence. Try as I might, I couldn't come up with a good excuse to not go, and what with all the bitching I do about the sad state our nation and it's government is in, I figgered it was my civic duty to show up. I don't want to be a hypocrite you know.
What a boring fucking day though. Sitting there waiting to find out whether or not you'll even get called - let alone selected. I did get a good chunk of a novel read though.

See? I Was Right
I've mentioned my dislike for rap and rappers many times, and I've also mentioned how bad it sucks. Now there's proof that if you listen to it you're stupid:
SAT scores vs. music you listen to.Like it says there, higher on the scale is good stuff like AC/DC, Tool, U2, David Bowie, Grateful Dead ... At the lowest end of the scale is of course, any form of rappity hop.
[...]
Shockingly, people who enjoy listening to Beethoven scored significantly higher than everyone else. The people who enjoy listening to Lil' Wayne, however, were at the bottom of the intelligence chart -- just behind people who like Beyoncé and T.I.
[...]
Word.
But then, I could be wrong. These folks look like they're just brimming with intelligence, don't they?:

Nucking Futs
If not, it did. The nut in the article below had a chimpanzee who went crazier than a PETArd in a slaughterhouse and attacked her friend. I heard on the radio that the thing tore into her big time. Bit her ears off, bit her nose off, torn her jaw off, and pretty much ripped the rest off her face off too.
The woman beat the monkey with a shovel and stabbed it with a knife, but that wasn't good enough. So she calls 9-1-1, and while the critter is chewing on her friend, the cops show up. The ape doens't think much of the cops being there, so it tries to get into the passenger side of the cop car. When that fails, it goes around to the drivers side, opens the door and gets in. Officer Friendly then commences to fill the crazed thing full of lead.
Here's a little enlightenment as to the nuttiness of the owner:
Chimp in Conn. attack had unusual bond with ownerYeah, I wonder what else she did with "Travis" when no one was around.
STAMFORD, Conn. – Travis the chimpanzee's relationship with his owner was closer than those of some married couples.
Sandra Herold gave him the finest food, and wine in long-stemmed glasses. They took baths together and cuddled in the bed they shared. Travis brushed the lonely widow's hair each night and pined for her when she was away.
If she left the house alone, Travis would give her a kiss.
[...]
For once though, I reckon pitbull owners are off the hook.

Rap Sucz
Seems every time I make a post about music and musicians, or rap and rappers, I get called to the carpet. Well, so be it. If you don't like my commentary, don't bother posting a comment letting me know how uninformed or stupid I am, or how I don't understand what it's all about because rap sucks, rappers are a bunch of talentless, racist hacks, or because a a particular musician or entertainer I thinks sucks or is ugly. Just shut the fuck up and move along. I've heard it all before.
So the background is that I got wind of some shit the fucknut Jay-Z was yammering on about from Mrs. Curmudgeon as we were enjoying a dinner out. She mentioned that she had watched a Bill O'Reilly show last week there he and Dennis Miller - wait a minute. Mrs. Curmudgeon watching Bill O'Reilly? Blow me down matey. She always shakes her head when I mention anything I've watched on O'Reilly's show.
Anyway, she mentioned she that was watching O'Reilly interview Dennis Miller last week and they were discussing some of the racist shit the idiots Jay-Z (wtf?) and Young Jeezy (again, wtf?) had been spouting off at the inaugural ball.
Now notice I said this was on O'Reilly's show, which is of course, on the Fox network. There was no mention of it that I know of on any of the other major networks. Why do you suppose that is?
I snagged these quotes from other sources, so they may be misaligned or disjointed, but you get the drift:
Young Jeezy:"I know ya'll thanking a lot of people right now...I want to thank two people. I want to thank the motherfucker overseas that threw two shoes at George Bush, and I want to thank the motherfuckers who helped them move they shit up out the White House. Get it moving bitch! My president is motherfucking black!"Nice. You rap fans have yourself some real role models there.
Jay-Z: "My president is black, in fact he's half white/So even in a racist mind he's half right/If you've got a racist mind it's alright/My president is black, but his house is all white!"
"Never thought I'd say this shit, baby I'm good. you can keep your pussy because I don't want no more Bush. No more war. No more Iraq. No more white lies, my president is black"
And these fuckers call us crackers racists? Now that's fucking funny.
Yeah, It's a real honor to be a racist drug dealer. A real honor to glamorize "the 'hood". Poverty, drugs, gang violence, filth and unlimited children on "The Man's" dime.
Good for you, you rappin', hip-hoppin' fucks. You made it to the big time. You have a career, unlike the people whose lives you ruined by selling them the drugs that made the money that got you your start in life.
But you Obama, I never heard a rebuttal from you. If in fact you and your following are not racist, why did you allow this bullshit ease on by without any denouncement from your staff?
Let's say that next election, a white man gets elected. Let's say that oh, Ted Nugent gets on stage and says something like "No more black lies! My president is white again!" Does anyone believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, BBC, CBC, ... even fucking Pravda, wouldn't go totally apeshit and rip 'The Nuge' a new asshole?
Damn right they would. They would make it perfectly clear how big of a gun-totin' white racist he was, and from that point on he wouldn't make it through another day without round the clock Secret Service protection and a new identity.
Yeah, racism still abounds, but I don't hear it coming from whitey any more.

Is The World Coming To An End?
Kid Rock Vetoes Celebrity Political EndorsementsI have a new found respect for the dude. I still don't like his 'music', it is rap after all, but gawd-damn. He is absolutely right. If I hear an entertainer stumping for a politician, that's the first sign as to who to not vote for.
Not one to mince words, Kid Rock nevertheless says don't ask him to sound off on affairs of state.
"I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics," the rap-rock musician, 37, tells CMT Insider.
"Because at the end of the day," he goes on to say, "I'm good at writing songs and singing. What I'm not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for ... I think would be very irresponsible on my part."
Of the celebs who haven't taken the same approach, Rock says, "I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. As soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, 'I'm voting for this guy!' – I go, 'That's not who I'm voting for!' "
[...]
Most - if not all - celebrities have no clue about politics. They live in their own little world of glitz and glamor, and don't know shit about the 'little' people. They should keep their fucking trap shut when it comes to the rest of the world.
I may just run out and buy one of his albums. I won't listen to it, but at least he's not worthy of a boycott.

Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Damn dude. What a way to go. Sorry."
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Huh?"
Bernie Mac: "I say, Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Wait. Shaft? Is that you?"
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Wait a minute...."
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Did your wires get crossed with Isaac Hayes on the way up - or down, whichever, or some shit?"
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Whoa. Now this is some shit here. "
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "I mean, he died the same day and all, but..."
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."
Curmudgeon: "Well, good luck then."
Bernie Mac: "Daaaamn right."

Get A Haircut And Get A Real Job
Libtards and environuts would have us believe that doing more oil drilling off-shore or on-shore is a waste of time and money, because the United States has only 3 percent of the world's oil reserves, oil companies aren't using the leases they already have, drilling is environmentally dangerous, and it could distract from finding alternative sources of energy.
Well, someone at the Washington Post has their head out of their ass:
Debunking three 'truths' about offshore drillingContrary to my opinion, this same person doesn't believe we should even fart in thw direction of ANWR, but oh well. Maybe they'll come around eventually.
[...]· Drilling is pointless because the United States has only 3 percent of the world's oil reserves. This is a misleading because it refers only to known oil reserves. According to the Interior Department's Minerals Management Service (MMS), while there are an estimated 18 billion barrels of oil in the off-limits portions of the OCS, those estimates were made using old data from now-outdated seismic equipment. In the case of the Atlantic Ocean, the data were collected before Congress imposed a moratorium on offshore drilling in 1981. In 1987, the MMS estimated that there were 9 billion barrels of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. By 2006, after major advances in seismic technology and deepwater drilling techniques, the MMS resource estimate for that area had ballooned to 45 billion barrels. In short, there could be much more oil under the sea than previously known. The demand for energy is going up, not down. And for a long time, even as alternative sources of energy are developed, more oil will be needed.
· The oil companies aren't using the leases they already have. According to the MMS, there were 7,457 active leases as of June 8. Of those, only 1,877 were classified as "producing." As we pointed out in a previous editorial, the five leases that have made up the Shell Perdido project off Galveston since 1996 are not classified as producing. Only when it starts pumping the equivalent of an estimated 130,000 barrels of oil a day at the end of the decade will it be deemed "active." Since 1996, Shell has paid rent on the leases; filed and had approved numerous reports with the MMS, including an environmentally sensitive resource development plan and an oil spill recovery plan that is subject to unannounced practice runs by the MMS; drilled several wells to explore the area at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars; and started constructing the necessary infrastructure to bring the oil to market. The notion that oil companies are just sitting on oil leases is a myth. With oil prices still above $100 a barrel, that charge never made sense.
· Drilling is environmentally dangerous. Opposition to offshore drilling goes back to 1969, when 80,000 barrels of oil from an offshore oil well blowout washed up on the beaches of Santa Barbara. In 1971, the Interior Department instituted a host of reporting requirements (such as the resource development and oil spill recovery plans mentioned above) and stringent safety measures. Chief among them is a requirement for each well to have an automatic shut-off valve beneath the ocean floor that can also be operated manually. According to the MMS, between 1993 and 2007, there were 651 spills of all sizes at OCS facilities (in federal waters three miles or more offshore) that released 47,800 barrels of oil. With 7.5 billion barrels of oil produced in that time, that equates to 1 barrel of oil spilled per 156,900 barrels produced. That's not to minimize the danger. But no form of energy is perfect or without trade-offs. Besides, if it is acceptable to drill in the Caspian Sea and in developing countries such as Nigeria where environmental concerns are equally important, it's hard to explain why the United States should rule out drilling off its own coasts.
The strongest argument against drilling is that it could distract the country from a pursuit of alternative sources of energy. There's no question that the administration has been lax on that front. True leadership would emphasize both alternative sources and rational approaches to developing oil and natural gas. No, the United States cannot drill its way to energy independence. But with the roaring economies of China and India gobbling up oil in the two countries' latter-day industrial revolutions, the United States can no longer afford to turn its back on finding all the sources of fuel necessary to maintain its economy and its standard of living. What's required is a long-term, comprehensive plan that includes wind, solar, geothermal, biofuels and nuclear -- and that acknowledges that oil and gas will be instrumental to the U.S. economy for many years to come.
But in the meantime, let's utilize some of the oil we have here instead of relying on fucking towelheads.
And as for alternative fuels/energy sources, I have no problem with that either. But let's solve some ridiculous price issues in tandem with researching alternatives.
Let's use these alternatives for stationary power like electrical generation, running households and businesses. Get rid of natural gas or oil fired power plants and use that fuel where mobility is the only option. I mean, how can you run a car strictly on solar or wind power for hell's sake? It isn't economical or affordable.
Anyway, there are already alternatives. But this country thrives on mobility and transportation of goods. If the cost of moving shit goes up, the price of food and goods goes up.

Hoppy Esther
Anyway, I hope you all had a good Easter weekend and all that shit.
Easter - you know, the 'other' big religious to-do Christians have every year. Along with "Black Friday", we also have a "Black Sunday". This isn't as big of spending day for merchants, other than extra beer, hams and BBQ grills, but it does help put the church coffers in the black for the year.
Standing room only at the churches by the people who call themselves Christians yet only go to church twice a year - Easter Sunday and Christmas eve. But it makes for a decent haul by the preachers. Probably gets them a new roof or organ for the church and a new Cadillac in the driveway.
Halle-friffin'-lujah. Show how much you love Jeebus by filling up the collection plate!
So anyway, it was a good weekend around the house. We had the family over and made ham, ribs and tater salad. Hot food, beautiful weather, and cold beer.
Ahhh. I love Easter.
