No Shot For You!

You know that as of late, I don't usually do political posts here. But this is just too gawddam important. The word needs to spread. And even though I am but a tiny zit on the ass of the blog world, my blog voice shall utter these uh, ... utterances:

HHS would become federal giant under Senate plan

[...]
That's because Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would be awarded unprecedented new powers under the proposal, including the authority to decide what medical care should be covered by insurers as well as the terms and conditions of coverage and who should receive it.

"The legislation lists 1,697 times where the secretary of health and humans services is given the authority to create, determine or define things in the bill," said Devon Herrick, a health care expert at the National Center for Policy Analysis.

For instance, on Page 122 of the 2,079-page bill, the secretary is given the power to establish "the basic per enrollee, per month cost, determined on average actuarial basis, for including coverage under a qualified health care plan."

The HHS secretary would also have the power to decide where abortion is allowed under a government-run plan, which has drawn opposition from Republicans and some moderate Democrats.

And the bill even empowers the department to establish a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation that would have the authority to make cost-saving cuts without having to get the approval of Congress first.

[...]
And on and on...

See, one of the things the fuckheads in the senate are trying to do here is not necessarily implement any real changes, but rather not implement any changes, then endow the power upon yet another fucking czar granting them unlimited authority by virtue of congressional approval.

So yes. Taxes will increase for everyone. And I mean every-fucking-one, not just "The Rich™". We'll see it in higher prices for goods and services even if it isn't a particular line item on the pay stub.
Rates will increase for already already covered individuals, while coverage will decrease.
Uninsured will have minimal coverage, but their lifestyle as well as medical treatments will be dictated by the Death Czar.

This fucked up shit is being steamrolled up our asses by politicians who have more interest in furthering their careers than they do in their constituents desires and everyone is going to pay dearly.

What A Crock Of Shit

Stricter labeling urged for bottled water

Wed Jul 8, 7:41 PM ETSent 1,564 times

Consumers know less about the water they pay dearly for in bottles than what they can drink almost for free from the tap because the two are regulated differently, congressional investigators and nonprofit researchers say in new reports.
[...]
I have a better idea. How taxing the shit out of it?

Lawmakers keep doing stupid shit like adding taxes cigarettes - which, here in Nevada, is what pays for 'free' children's healthcare and some college scholarships. And all because they're unhealthy or an unnecessary habit. Then they pass laws outlawing smoking in tons of places, so all of a sudden that revenue goes down.

Then they add taxes to sodas and other foods because they're unnecessary or unhealthy.

Then they add taxes to hotel rooms which raises the cost of rooms when tourism is already down.

If bottled water is so unnecessary and the production of it is so bad for the environment, how about taxing the fuck out of it? People can buy a refillable water bottle at the local Super Big Box store and refill the thing from a 1 gallon jug, or a filter on their fridge, or a Britta, or a Sparklettes cooler, or whatever the hell people used to do back in the old days before there was the store bought shit.

I'm guessing we wouldn't even need a fucked up carbon footprint tax if we did this.

Poll

What with the continued separation of ideas and ideals, some 'scholars' are predicting that our country is soon to be meeting its demise. Be it civil war, individual state's secessions, whatever the case may be.

So I suggest we start thinking about what we're going to call the new regime, or at least start thinking up names for the new country or countries that spring from this new order.

Here are a few of my suggestions. Cast your vote and feel free to write your senators with the results!

Another Worthless Study

Finger length may predict financial success

Mon Jan 12, 6:05 PM ETSent 210 times

WASHINGTON - The length of a man's ring finger may predict his success as a financial trader. Researchers at the University of Cambridge in England report that men with longer ring fingers, compared to their index fingers, tended to be more successful in the frantic high-frequency trading in the London financial district.
[...]
Yeah. Right. And the middle finger is an indicator of how long your dick is too. Blah blah blah.

That must mean the execs from the closed up or bailed out banks with the golden parachutes have longer ring fingers than the poor saps working for them or investing with them.

Study these folks and give me an indicator of how successful they are:

Yet Another Voice in the Crowd

I just can't help it. I'm compelled to make some sort of comment on the so-called 'Big 3 Bailout'. Why not? Everyone else is.

Whatever the automakers say the cause is, if they made a better, cheaper product, they wouldn't be having these problems.

Chevy has always been my truck of choice. I've owned 7 Chevy trucks, one Dodge, and one Ford. Cars I'm not as particular about, but trucks - except for the one time I was poor and needed a work truck, have always been Chevy's.
Why? Because they have always been reliable for me.
Yes, baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet. 'Murican as as you can get, right? An American company making trucks built from parts manufactured in Mexico, assembled in Canada.

Fairly recently, Japan realized us big, burly, red-blooded American, gun totin' rednecks didn't want some little two-seater we had to shoehorn ourselves into. That even though they were good on gas, for the most part those tiny little Datsuns, Toyotas, and Nissans stayed on the pavement and rode like go-carts.

No, we wanted big, tough, manly, oversized even, high clearance trucks that could take a beating, not fall apart, not to mention, haul one a'them two-seated rice burners in the back. It needed to be tough looking, tough built, rugged. Look like a tank and drive like a Cadillac.

So Japan started making the Tundras and the Titans. And guess what? They gave the big three a run for their money. So what did the big three do then? Why, they added more frills. They started making the Navigators, the Expeditions, the Suburbans, all those huge, expensive, gas guzzling tanks that soccer moms decided they needed because they were safer for their precious little snowflakes, and also because they could more easily haul around them and their friends, and their friends.
They didn't bother making the existing pick-up line better or stronger, making a better warranty, or heaven forbid, offer better or cheaper service or repairs. No, all they wanted to do was get the merchandise out the door so you would drive it, break it, and come in for replacement parts. Sort of like computer printers and ink cartridges, right?

So we have an expensive yet cheaply made product by union members...

Which, I was also one of those for several years, a union hand. I understand where unions came from when Americans needed the protection of a strong union from 'company' abuses, greed, and dangers of the average work day. It wasn't uncommon to take your life into your own hands by showing up for work, just to feed your family. Unions fixed many safety issues before OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) had anything to do with it.

If you were in a 'company' town, chances are, you also had company store where you could get credit the day you were hired. Of course, the interest rate at the company store was such that it was impossible to ever go in the black. You never made enough to pay the company store back, so you basically worked every day to keep company goons from taking your possessions, your knees, your wife, anything of value they didn't already own.

So unions at one time, were beneficial. They made it so it was safe to go to work, and made it so you could actually make money instead of just survive. Non-union companies saw what was going on and bolstered their work areas and pay scales to keep unions out. So everyone benefited.

On the other hand, unions become safety nets for lazies, idiots and crooks.

A union hand doesn't just go to work and have a supervisor tell him to go help in department "A" today. He has a union scale job such as screwing a nut on a bolt, and he gets paid union scale for having that job. Any variance from that particular task - even for a short while - can mean he gets paid extra for doing someone else's job in addition to his own regular pay.

You have to fuck up quite bad to get fired from a union job. You have all sorts of representation and legal counsel that will fight to the bitter end to keep you employed. They don't want to lose out on the monthly dues you pay to stay in the union.

And let's not even get into pensions. Those are definitely becoming a thing of the past. If you're a company owner who gambles with the pension money and wins, you make a killing. If not, you're Enron. You lose, your company loses, the pensioners lose, you make the Titanic look like one big wet t-shirt contest.

So the unions gambled and wouldn't make any concessions - or at least, enough. They wouldn't accept cuts or losses of what they had, so they're going to lose it all if the company does go out of business. Which, I'm guessing is the way they planned it. If they would have taken a cut, they wouldn't get laid off. Therefore, they wouldn't collect unemployment.

It seems anymore, that foreign made vehicles are every bit as good if not better than what we make here in the good ole' U.S. of A., so these companies going down won't rob us of any product, unless you're totally, 100% dead set against buying anything not "American Made" or "Union Label".

I don't like the idea of these companies going under, because I don't like the idea of millions of unemployment people. But I also don't like paying a fortune for a vehicle and wondering just how long it is going to last before I have to start sinking hundreds into it just to keep it running.

The kicker here is that Harry Reid is supporting this bailout. And if there's one thing I do know, if Harry Reid is supporting it - it ain't nothing but another fucking for the American people.

Well, Shit.

Sorry sweet lady.

This is supposed to be the time of year for family and friends, wassail, cookies, giving and sharing, joy and kindness. But thanks to a bunch of greedy mutherfukkers, there seems to be nothing this year but sadness, worry, anticipation and wonder.

Best wishes for you, and good luck. I hope the new endeavor eventually serves you.

Yet Another Study

And here you have it. The answer to what I'm sure is one of the most important dilemmas facing mankind in this day and age:
The Stink in Farts Controls Blood Pressure
BWAH! Sorry, I never got past the headline, so I have no idea if the article has any real merit. But I always knew it controlled my blood pressure.
So Mrs Curmudgeon, take note. Whenever you hear me blow a gasket or fill the room with a "silent but deadly", you'll now realize I'm just trying to control my blood pressure.

Senate Placeholder

I'm liking her more and more.

Here's a little excerpt from VEEP nominee Sarah Palin's speech last night re John McCain:

[...]
A leader who's not looking for a fight, but is not afraid of one either. Harry Reid, the Majority Leader of the current do-nothing Senate, not long ago summed up his feelings about our nominee.

He said, quote, "I can't stand John McCain." Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps no accolade we hear this week is better proof that we've chosen the right man. Clearly what the Majority Leader was driving at is that he can't stand up to John McCain. That is only one more reason to take the maverick of the Senate and put him in the White House. My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of "personal discovery." This world of threats and dangers is not just a community, and it doesn't just need an organizer.
[...]
BWAH! No doubt.
I don't like John McCain. But Obam-bam is even worse. But here's the rub: The fact that Harry Reid hates him is reason enough to vote for him.

Oh, and by the way, she said a lot of other sensible things too. Go read the rest if you didn't watch it on the teevee.

Fuck Off Friday

Ahhhh. It's been such a long time since I did one of these. And sadly, I've already mentioned this sorry fuck before, but well, you can never tell him to fuck off often enough.

Sez the Senate Majority Leader:Help Democrats Lower Gas Prices Now
Today, Democrats proposed an amendment to provide immediate relief to consumers. The amendment introduced by Senator Menendez will provide more than $6 billion in relief directly to the American people by eliminating the federal tax for both gas and diesel for 60 days. During the period of this gas tax holiday, the cost of gas will be reduced by $0.184 per gallon and the cost of diesel by $0.244 per gallon. We will pay for this tax cut by eliminating tax breaks and giveaways to big oil.
WOW!!! A whole 18 cents per gallon! WOOHOO!!! A 5% drop in price!!!

I won't even make an extra trip to the hardware store for a 10% sale. Jeebus kreebus.

And on top of that, here in Nevada we have a revised statute that says something along the lines of any cut in federal fuel tax must be made up by an increased state fuel tax. So we here in the Silver State would end up with no price break anyway.

Now it wouldn't surprise me if other states do the same thing too. As greedy as it sounds, the reasoning is this. There are road projects budgeted, funds allotted, and even work in progress that are relying on money being there. Since the federal government matches certain amounts of highway funds for each state (which comes from fuel taxes), that money won't be there. So now it's up to the state to pay the money they budgeted for the shit.

So what it amounts to is just more attempted feel good bullshit from the same old sorry-assed senator from Nevada - who you would think would already know about this statute and know that it would do no good.

This same sorry-assed senator says "It's all Bush's fault" when it comes to fuels costs, but yet is dead set against oil drilling or refining domestically, clean burning coal fired power plants, or even nuclear power.

So with that I say,

Harry Reid
FUCK OFF!

Oh, and did I mention he's trying to do away with term limits? Yup, gone to the supreme court and everything! That's right. He doesn't want to leave the senate because he has too much left undone.

My personal belief is that term limits were designed for a reason. And the sooner he's gone the better.

Republicans:
Mitt Romney 22,649 51
Ron Paul 6,087 14
John McCain 5,651 13
Mike Huckabee 3,616 8

Some quotes - loosely quoted - I heard on the news: "Higher than average hispanic turnout..."
"Support by the culinary union was supposed to go toward Obama, but appeared to favor Clinton..."

Fucking shit. Fucking wetbacks. The bitch Hitlary goes out into the neighborhoods and shmoozes wetbacks. Door to door in the shittiest parts of town, and wins them over. Gee. Whose vote you reckon she's after from the culinary union, waiters and bartenders? Right. No, that would be all the undocumented dishwashers, bus boys, taco line cooks, ...

Fucking wetbacks are taking over Nevada too. I'm ashamed of my state.

Global Smarming

A thought I had...

I know, we've already been inundated with the "Global Warming™" propaganda a-plenty lately. It seems us humans are responsible for raising the temperature of the earth, causing the ice caps on the poles to melt, destroying the habitat of polar bears and civilization in general. Especially, us Americans.

But I have a question: What are we doing about all the brush and forest fires that seem to happen every year? Me driving my so-called gas guzzler to work every day puts out a microscopic amount of carbons compared to say, 30 seconds of forest fire.
The way I see it, humans grilling steaks and driving cars can't even hold a candle to the amount of emissions from natural sources.

Go ahead. Prove me wrong.

In the meantime, our esteemed senate majority leader, Harry Fucking Reid, doesn't want us to build coal fired power plants using some of the cleanest equipment and technology in the world. Other countries who of course, don't have to answer to the E.P.A. can build all they want. American businesses who would use better and cleaner technology are fined, regulated and taxed to the point that it becomes economically impossible to build them.

Which makes me wonder, what exactly is Harry Reid for? Of course, he is against anything Bush or any other republican proposes. So tell me, besides "getting them out now", what is he trying to accomplish in his position?
