I would much rather those people spend time worrying about say, too many taxes, spending, deficits, too many laws, terrorists, illegal alieans, education, ... that sort of shit rather than who gets married for fuck's sake.

Here's how it works: Couples get married in California. Next they want to move to another state and try to force that state to recognize their marital status. When the new state of residence tells them to pound sand they appeal to the federal government for "equal rights".
Proponents *for* gay marriage have made this a federal issue.

Dave, I know we are on opposite sides of this issue, but this is exactly the point. Why should you or I or anyone care what someone else does in their bedroom?
The fact is, there have always been gay people, there ARE gay people, and there will continue to be gay people. Why should they be denied a chance to be in a committed, legally sanctioned relationship any less than we are? How will this negatively impact your marriage or mine?
Your last paragraph said it all. In the grand scheme of things, there are many more important issues to deal with. Though you didn't mean to, you just contradicted yourself, I think.

Well, using your example, there have been pedophiles, there are pedophiles, and there will continue to be pedophiles.
Where/when do we draw the line? When a man is legally able to wed a girl after her first period, since that's when she is physically able to reproduce?
When the crazy lady down the street can marry her dog so that it is ensured a comfortable life in the grandest of kennels if she were to unexpectedly pass, rather than her children who never call getting her inheritance?
It's morally wrong, it's psychologically wrong, and if you don't believe either of those, it's physically wrong. Why are men and women made differently if there is no real reason for it in the grand scheme of things?
Anyway, yeah, I worded that sorta poorly, I wasn't just singling out men. I feel the same way about women as men when it comes to gays. It's wrong. It's a disorder that hopefully, we'll find a cure for.
well its only an issue because this administration has no answeres to your other concerns. hell they started this war we cant win, their friends are profiting over the gouging of oil prices, we didnt have a deficit until bush got in....etc. this is to scare people into forgetting those things because gays might ruin this country.
you arguement with the pedophiles is flawed too. gays would be defined as two consenting adults where pedophiles prey on children. as for the old lady who wants to marry her dog so it gets her money instead of her kids.....well that her decision. the only ones complaining are her kids.

There's always some sort of law dems and repubs try to enact any time they want to detract from the real issues, just to get people out to vote.
As for pedophiles, it is consenting adults that keep making changes to the laws, basically taking decisions away from others. So changing the laws for pedophiles is not that much of a stretch.
