Bill of NON-Rights

As far as I know, the following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Aye from GA. I like them:
  • ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.
  • ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be
  • ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.
  • ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes
  • ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.
  • ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.
  • ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
  • ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.
  • ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness which, by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
  • ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!
  • ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!
I have to say, I agree with most, if not all of these points.
So many people think the rest of the world owes them or their kin something. Usually the ones who never had to earn or work for anything themselves.
And laws and lawmakers are becoming way too obtuse with legislation anymore.

Again I say, when the hell are people going to be held accountable for their own actions?

Yeah, I guess it's pretty easy for people who have already earned their way in life to bitch about people who don't want to.

i'm not sure i would qualify a politician as having earned their way

This is in response to shoes.

Your posts was spoken like a true liberal couch potato who hasn't got the back bone to do the kind of hard work it takes to get head in life.
Yeah Yeah I know you probably think you came from a poor family and didn't have the oppertunities that richer kids had...YEAH right.
I came from a dirt poor family. We didn't eve have a bathroom in our house until I was 17 years old and you know what. I worked 3 jobs at a time for 20 years and it all paid off. All of my hard work and percerverence paid off and I did it without any hand outs from the taxpayers.
This Bill of Non Rights is absolutely correct. If you do not take advantage of the many education opertunities that are available to you then you are the one who need to reevaluate your own actions. Don't expect the taxpayer to pick up the bill for your shortcomings or your unwilingness to work harder.
Oh by the way, I also did it all by myself as a singe mom and I was still there for everything in my childs life. Now she is the #4 student in the nation on the top ten studetns list and she has a full scholarship to MIT.
How's that for a conservative chick who grew up knowing that Poor is Poor middle class is not poor.
How is that from a woman who didn't have running water in her house until she was 17 years old.
I would say it isn't bad at all.
Yep I am going to talk about myself and my accomplishments because I earned that right. I put my blood sweat and tears into my work and I came out on top through faith and percerverence never asking for a govrnment welfare check hand out.

Anonymous,
Nice to see someone else has earned their way.
I'm with you all the way. Way too many people feel in this country don't feel a need to work, because they know that if they fail, there's a free welfare check just waiting for them.
