Not it! Mass. elementary school bans tag:Good gawd, people. Let the kids play.
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.
[...]
What the hell are they supposed to do at recess, sit around a color?
Sue-happy people have made it so kids can't even have a life anymore. No wonder they sit around and play with their X-Boxes all day.

Actually, I am surprised "Tag" hasn't been banned before now. You know, for fear of inappropriate touching during the actual tagging.
Oh, I'm sure that's in there as a backup if their original plan don't hold water.
Jeez, if this continues, the only meaning of "tag" is going to be what those damn rappers do. On walls. With paint.
Damn those rappers and their surly paint games!
I'm so glad I live "over the border" in New Hampshire.
Susan,
This is Massachusetts...not only is inappropriate contact allowed, but encouraged.
See: Catholic Church, Cardinal Law, Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank
Is "X Box" what the teenage boys are calling it these days?
BWAH!
Y'all are cracking me up!
You know...I don't see children play anymore at all...neither at school nor at home.
When I was child...all up to 13 years, we had so many games and "home-made" activities...Now-a-days, all they do is sex-related (or the grown-ups see it that way)or organized activities.
What do the children around your place play. Hop-scotch? skipping-rope, ball-games? Do they still play "cowboys & Red indians" or build huts in the trees?
I never see it any more...
Around my way, the kids play more wholesome games, like.
Bash the Pensioner.
Trash the Schoolyard.
Vandalise the nicer cars.
:)
Kirsten,
What with grumpy neighbors not wanting to see tree huts from their view, the town councils have placed stringent restrictions on them.
You need a building permit to build anything, and of course it is impossible to get a permit for something like that.
And the kids in my town are more like the kids in "tl"'s area: Spray painting walls and buildings, vandalizing, beatings, shootings, ...
Cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers - in the view of most parents, those are racist and incite violence. Can't be promoting that sort of stuff.
At least the kids can still play "doctor".
So long as they invite their friends over, then make them sit in a bleak room for an hour before they see each other.
Even when the older kids were young, they would play "manhunt", what do we call it now? I'll leave it to your witty readers.
pooke,
Hmm. Never heard of "Manhunt". Hide and seek maybe?
But I think you've got the playing doctor part figured out.
