One Of My Last Conversations With An 8-track Player

8-track: We may still have time,

Curmudgeon: Sure, sure.

8-track: We might still get by.

Curmudgeon: Absolutely!

8-track: Every time I think about it I want to cry.

Curmudgeon: It isn't that bad, is it?

8-track: With the bombs and the devils and the little kids keep coming?

Curmudgeon: Well, yeah...

8-track: Nowhere to breathe easy no time to be young!

Curmudgeon: Oh come on now. Take a seat. Chill a minute.

8-track: But I tell myself that I’m doing alright.

Curmudgeon: Sure. You're fine.

8-track:
There’s nothing left to do tonight, but go crazy on you!

Curmudgeon: Whoa! Back up there. Let's not get carried away just yet.

I miss 8-tracks. Sure they were clunky and took up a lot of space, but they were durable! Cd's are not durable... tehy crack in half, scratch if you breathe on them wrong - snooty skinny little things. I miss durable!

(does that mean I would dig fat chicks if I were a dude?)

I hated them! I was so glad when cassettes started being easier to get. 8-tracks were big and clunky, always getting melted, tightened, eaten, and stretched clear out of the box, songs chopeed in the middle of a track,...
Now casettes got eaten occasionally too, but at least they were easier to wind back in.

(Uhhh, You know what they say about fat chicks; Like a moped - they're fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you on one.)
