Just curious, but when Katrina hit Louisiana, we heard a lot about how they should never have built a town below sea level.
Why is it we don't hear as much about how these homes in California should never have been built in slide areas, or a where the potential for such devastating wildfires exists?

Don't forget the earthquakes. To answer your question, it's because the people there can afford to pay for homeowner's insurance on their multi-million dollars houses.
I'll take cold midwestern winters, two feet of snow and the occasional tornado scare over any of those risk factors, thankyouverymuch.
